Mickey Conlon and Ciaran McPhillips took the two wheel drive spoils on the Moonraker Forestry Rally yestersday which was round 3 of this years Valvoline Forestry Championship. The pairing who were carrying on a 100% win record this year. The day started with a time consuming spin for the pair which cost them a few seconds and with James Coleman and Billy Coleman award winner Dean Raftery in hot pursuit it was time for the Blind man to pull up his socks and chase hard and keep touch. After the drama of the morning it was smooth sailing for the pairing as they secured the 2 wheel drive win and finished up 6th overall.
In the Pinto class it was John Gordon and Thomas Wedlock who were flying the club flag. It was a mixed day for the pairing when they had to battle against suspected head gasket troubles added to this the loss of 4th gear at one point meant that it was to be a hard day in the office for the Gordon Automotive car. In service Noel Lappin donated his spare box to get the lads back on the road and finish the event 1st in class and 14th overall after what was a testing day out.
